Results Of 2017: Demand And Production Volumes In Russia Are On The Rise

The last period of growth in sales of new cars in Russia was in 2012, after which the demand began to fall. The recovery that began in March 2017 continued until the end of the year, December being the most successful month of 2017. This was facilitated by the New Year discounts, and a relatively stable situation with exchange rates, oil prices, and also the deferred demand that has accumulated over the past few years.

In 2017 Hyundai became the leader in both sales and production: 96 689 units of Kia Rio were sold, 14% higher than its sales in 2016, in which the same model was in the lead. On the second and third places – Lada Granta and Lada Vesta cars.

By the end of 2017, demand for new cars in Russia grew by 11.9% (1 596 thousand cars were sold, against 1 426 thousand in 2016). According to statistics published by Marklines, the volume of production in Russia increased by 18.9% to 1.6 million vehicles (compared to 1.3 million in 2016).

Renault presence on the Russian market is reinvigorated following a 4 year crisis, achieving 448 000 vehicles sold and a 12% progression: as for now, more than one car out of four sold in Russia is a Lada or a Renault.
