GreenTech & NewTech Press Review N°3

GreenTech & NewTech Press Review N°3

Here is the third GreenTech – SNECI press review of the year, a section that allows you to discover companies from the GreenTech & NewTech. We have selected 10 companies that caught our attention because of their originality and their innovative technologies.

N°1 : SEAir

SEAir is a key player in the nautical world, using its expertise to make different boats (sail and motor) fly, thanks to a retractable foil system. This new technology of retractable foils is totally new for semi-rigid boats. By equipping these “zodiac” type boats, beyond the comfort provided, it allows for fuel consumption savings of between 30% and 50% depending on the points of sail. SEAir has made the foils more resistant by using specific materials. It can be adjusted thanks to a control system, allowing it to navigate on four axes. The teams are currently working on a new, more ecological foil. The stakes of this company are to improve the energy efficiency and the comfort of nautical transport. This company has a lot of ambition and we will be able to see in a few years, flying boats on the Seine and in our ports.

N°2 : Teebike

Teebike is a company that has designed a connected front wheel that turns bicycles into electrically assisted bikes in minutes. This solution makes it possible to convert standard bikes into electric bikes without any technical skills. Teebike’s goal is to allow everyone to give their bike a new life rather than throwing it away and buying a new one to enjoy the benefits of electric. What is Teebike’s motto? Simplicity: The choice of the front wheel makes the electrification faster and simpler compared to existing systems installed on the rear wheel, more complicated to remove and reinstall. The Bluetooth connection to the Teebike application downloaded on a smartphone means that there are no cables to install. Finally, each element that makes up the wheel can be removed and replaced when it no longer works so that the wheel can be kept for life. Teebike also recycles batteries and electronics. Teebike is a promising company that will be able to conquer your bikes in the next few years.

N°3 : The Treep

The Treep is a company that has developed a tool for business travelers to easily book multimodal trips. This tool gives information to the user about the carbon impact of his trip. The Treep is an eco-responsible digital booking service called Mobility Planner. This tool allows users to compare different combinations of transportation modes for a business trip based on the duration, cost and carbon footprint of each option. This SAAS is served by a unique algorithm that combines multiple modes of transportation. The traveler compares, combines and books trains, planes, cabs, subways. He can compare the total time, the total budget and especially the total carbon footprint of door-to-door trips. The objective is to reduce the CO2 emissions of business trips and to monitor the progress of each employee through a green mobility dashboard. This is a tool that companies will start using to comply with their ecological agreements.

N°4 : Wintics

Founded in 2017, Wintics brings together a dozen mobility experts and AI researchers, supervised by a world medalist in mathematics. The company has developed a unique software on the market. which allows to automatically transform, videos from any camera, into fine mobility data available in real time. The data produced by the software allows the implementation of efficient initiatives in favor of a more sustainable mobility: counting the number of passengers inside cars to encourage carpooling (dedicated lanes), multimodal analysis of traffic to dynamically regulate traffic lights at intersections and point out misuse, precise measurement of the affluence in public transport to better inform travelers and make journeys more comfortable. The software is successfully connected to a dozen customers in France and is currently being tested on cameras abroad.

N°5 : AgriCarbone

AgriCarbone is a collection and distribution operator of non-food agricultural biomass (straw, chaff, cobs, silo residues, etc.) and industrial co-products (ash, digestates, etc.), which acts to accelerate the development of the territorial bioeconomy. AgriCarbone is a neutral actor at the interface between the producers of agricultural biomass and the industrialists able to valorize it (methanization, combustion, chemistry). By relying on an ecosystem of local agricultural actors, its objective is to create the intermediary of collection integrating the constraints of farmers (soil fertility, production costs) and meeting the needs of industry (constant quantity and quality). AgriCarbone attaches great importance to the sustainable mobilization of the deposits and the maintenance of the fertility of the plots of land by returning the industrial by-products to the soil, thus creating a territorial circular economy loop.

N°6 : Bioinspir

BIOINSPIR believes in the power of nature to build a more responsible and sustainable world. Their molecules are synthesized by ecocatalysis, a unique and innovative process combining ecology and chemistry. In 2008, Prof. Claude Grison observed that some plant species are able to naturally accumulate metallic elements. She discovered that she could take advantage of these metal-rich plants to catalyze organic synthesis: this was the creation of the first ecocatalyst. In the context of a major environmental crisis, they are helping to solve the scourges of metal catalysis: mining, the transformation of metal ores into catalysts and the massive production of waste throughout the value chain. BIOINSPIR produces its ecocatalysts by valorizing invasive exotic plants. They transform this threat to biodiversity and the environment into a tool for the synthesis of bioinspired and environmentally friendly molecules.

N°7 : Cotrolia

Cotrolia proposes the repair of electronic components in the automobile such as ABS/ESP calculators, GPS screens, or meters. In total, Cotrolia has more than 2,600 product references from 45 manufacturers, as an alternative to new parts. Cotrolia’s project and ambitions are to offer a real ecological and economical alternative to new electronic parts for the automotive aftermarket. By offering a remanufactured part, guaranteed for 2 years, associated with industrial processes, Cotrolia also offers a real solution to the obsolescence of certain spare parts. The stakes of this company are to offer an alternative to new parts 3 times cheaper with a carbon footprint 8 times lower than new and to fight against the obsolescence of electronic spare parts.proposes the repair of electronic components in the automobile such as ABS/ESP calculators, GPS screens, or meters. N°8 : Ecodrop

Created in 2017 by a team of circular economy enthusiasts, digital experts and construction sector experts, ECODROPhas set itself the mission of facilitating the management of construction professionals’ waste thanks to digital, for less illegal deposits, more recycling and better traceability. Thanks to its partnerships with ICPE waste collection centers, recyclers and professional transporters of all sizes, ECODROP allows its customers to deposit their waste in a nearby ICPE waste collection center at negotiated prices, to order a collection of this waste on site within 2 hours, to order a fixed-price skip as quickly as possible, or to respond to any other construction waste problem: soil, asbestos and other hazardous waste. Ecodrop can also organize waste flows directly to the various recycling channels. The stakes of this company are to fight against the illegal dumping of building waste and to promote waste recycling and the circular economy.

N°9 : InnovaFeed

InnovaFeed is a biotechnology company that commercializes a new source of protein from insect breeding for animal feed, more specifically for aquaculture. The company deploys a virtuous, short-loop insect breeding process that creates value for the entire ecosystem. Innovafeed sources organic waste from local food processing industries, which it uses to feed its insect farms. The insects are then harvested and processed into high quality protein rich feed for the fish farm. The waste from this transformation (insect excrement) is used as agricultural fertilizer. The challenges of this enterprise are to implement resilient agricultural practices that make use of agri-food waste, thus limiting the use of new agricultural land. The goal is also to reduce the pressure on fishery resources by developing alternative products to fishery resources.

N°10 : Plastic odyssey

Plastic Odyssey aims to create a global network of small, community-based, high-impact businesses that use its technologies to create sustainable businesses based on plastic recycling. The company develops and promotes plastic recovery technologies that are accessible to the countries most affected by pollution. The company has a sensor to sort plastic, a multi-purpose extruder to recycle certain plastics into raw materials and a pyrolyser that transforms plastics that are no longer recyclable into fuel (diesel and gasoline) that can be used directly in generators for rural electrification, mopeds and fishing boats. Plastic Odyssey is a project for a floating plastic recycling laboratory ship that will embark the technologies developed and will be propelled solely by the plastic waste collected at each port of call. This ship will leave in 2020 for a 3-year expedition along the coasts of Africa, South America and Asia. The objectives of this company are to improve water quality by reducing pollution, limiting plastic waste discharges, reducing by recycling and reusing waste production, improving waste treatment capacities, especially in developing countries.
